The doctrine (Dhamma) reveals what must be recognized, morality (sila) governs how to behave, and the meditation is called "Will" (Bhavana). Meditation brings about what effect in other religions faith, asceticism, rites and sacraments. The practitioner should strive, in the "right mindfulness" (Samma Sati), not to weaken, in everything he does. "Right Concentration" (Samma Samadhi) he exercises when he retires, sits still and sunk.
Buddha taught mindfulness (sati) as the only way to "nirvana". The practitioner stands and walks, eats and drinks, thinks and feels fully aware. Whatever he does, he allows his mind does not like to ramble. The main practice mindful breathing in and out, is everywhere and always feasible. In the "insight" (vipassana) practitioner of his mind focused on body, emotions, mind and mind objects. In this he is the constant change of everything that he has been for his "I" kept aware. The constant growth and decay was holding nothing, nothing remains as it was, nothing is like it.
There are different levels of immersion. On "mindful meditation" follows the concentration on one thing, this equanimity that goes back with any sense. After listening to the perception of shapes and forms, pure consciousness is to yield to the experience of nothingness, until finally, everything goes. Other methods of teaching to concentrate on a word that seems pointless (koan). First thoughts wander off, then keep the spirit of the word and tighter, until the solution comes with a sudden flash of insight.
Buddhists learn to dissect in the idea to look at every part of her body. You see friend from foe before him, in order to penetrate with love (metta).
